Actually it may be easier to replace the Diff with one the same ratio.

otherwise you will need to get a garage to set the diff up with shimms as the casings can be different thicknesses due to different mouldings beiung used for casings etc.

this can be very bad if u just swap everything as u could find the crownwheel is not running true, it could be too tight or too loose. if you did however try to change it yourself, You MUST and i Stress MUST ensure you check the Pinion has the same number of teeth or swap it also.
Get it wrong and this could lead to failure very quickly, if you use the wrong ratio Pinion this would altrer the final drive and you would wind the diff up.. and could lead to box failure.

if u do not know what diff u have take the rear cover off, clean the crown wheel it will be stamped with the Number of teeth on the crownwheel and the pinion.

eg. 10:39
to work out the ratio you divide 13 by 10 this gives you 3.9
this example would have a 3.9 final drive

It is just the rear cover with two square drive fittings on it you mean?

If so then just empty the oil then unbolt and replace it or even degrease existing one very well and seal crack with liquid metal.
Then replace oil.

Yea 'butty' think that's right :-) When I look under the back of the car you can see the crack, it looks like the previous owner over tightened a bolt and it's cracked! :-/

I don't think it's a serious issue as it's been like that a while! Can see a slight wheep of oil! I have an exact match of casing and gasket ready to go on! Just wast sure if there was a catch to a simple job lol! Wouldn't want to break my baby! :-)
