Default USA look to have POOP fuel

COBB tuning for the 2011 STI, i was reading the specs, and noticed this

Fuel Requirement:
This varies by calibration, 93 or 94 octane, 91 or
92 octane, or if you live in Arizona, California, or Nevada, we have
a specific calibration for the 91 octane fuel in your state, this
calibration is called the Stage1 or Stage2 ACN91 v106. If detonation
is present, you should switch to a calibration developed for a
lesser quality fuel or your should add a quality octane boost to
your fuel.

The

91 ron although probably ****e for ya engine, Subaru sell the most cars in the USA, so it cant be all that bad cant it. They must cater for this surely.

USA octane ratings are different to UK. I think their 93 is equivalent to our 97...

USA use the PON system, we use the RON system

98RON is 94PON, so no, they dont use Poop fuel.

as above, different classification. Theres also MON rated stuff, and AKI, which is some kind of mean value from MON and RON, used in Brazil.

but AFAIK 91 and 93 are most common. 94 being harder to come by.

Yup:

The addage that US fuel is crap is probably the biggest motoring myth spouted on the internet, it is not any worse (or better) than ours.

PON is probably the better measurement system too, as its an averaged reading of both MON and RON values.

UK fuels rarely mention their MON values. Which is a bit naughty in my opinion.
