Default New member, Hi all :)

Hi to everyone,

I've just registered as I'm looking at getting my first Impreza this week.

Hope I'm posting in the right section (I'm sure a moderator will quickly let me know). I've always been a member of owners forums, most recently for a couple of BMW's, always finding them a great source of fun and help. I've made my decision to finally get round to buying a car that I've always wanted.

I have looked in the advice section for buyers and have a little bit of common sense but not the specific knowledge of Subaru's to know which I should choose. My budget is £4500 possibly stretching to £6500 if it was a real bargain.

I've got my eye on a couple and would like to hear any and all input or even if someone has a vehicle that might be right. Many thanks in advance and I look forward to becoming a regular on these pages.

Tony.

Hi Tony

Whats is your preference Bugeye or Blob with £6500 you can probably stretch to a Blobeye Sti UK with average miles.

Thanks for the reply's

I prefer blob to bugeye but it's not a major issue, if the car as a package was right I'd take either.

I've got the cash and could drive away the black 53plate tomorrow. I'm just a little worried about the mileage and that I don't really know what to look for on that age and model?

I test drove the black 53 plate today and was very impressed (first ever time in an Impreza). It had a full service history, lots of receipts for work (including a new clutch 6 months ago).

I would like to know if anyone knows if I should be worried about a slight squeak I heard from the engine bay. It sounded like it was coming from a belt, the dealer assured me it was because of the cold weather and very little use in the past week or so. Does anyone have any info on this please?

Also if there's anything in particular I should look for on that specific model? I very nearly put a deposit down there and then but kept my sensible head on and waited to ask you guys.

Thanks again.

Hi get a mechanical report on it if you are unsure and walk a way if you are unsure there are plenty of cars out there, as you said use your head and not your heart. You can`t beat a well sorted subaru smile every time you drive it

Thanks Gaz. How and where do I get a "mechanical report"? Do you mean just get a 3rd party to look at it, like a local garage?

Cant see 1 or 3 so cant comment, will say avoid number 2 though, fully decatted and no remap his engine, his engine rebuild.

Ok, the only thing I will say is that you will travel to get a good one, if you dont then you could just end up with some pile of junk

This next one is interesting

Also do a search on here, there was a black 2002 STI for sale in manchester for a good price.
