Default Tesco or Shell Hmm???

Since buying my STi in November I've put V-Power in. I don't mind paying the extra for better fuel but recently I've noticed that V-Power is now 5p more expensive than Tesco 99.

Is the Tesco stuff as good? In the grand scheme of things it's £2.00 difference on 60 litres, but the psychological effects are much greater The car is getting mapped in the New Year so want it to be 'used to' a certain fuel, mapped on it etc, but at the same time running on a fuel that's the best possible.

Decisions???

Cheers guys. Like I say £2.00 on a tank is nothing but if prices continue to rise I'm certain Tesco will shield the consumer better than shell so that margin could get larger. That said, you don't buy a Scooby and moan about the fuel

I'm lucky that I don't need to use the car everyday so can keep it parked up and topped up as my toy.

You can ask your mapper if will be kind to map your car on both(is possible on JDM ECU's) as dual fuel map(one for Tesco stuff and second for Shell stuff)

I have been using tesco 99 since it came out,and experienced no problems with it in my legacy gtb as well as my other 2 subarus. Personally i use tesco as it is less than a mile away, and when i had both my cars mapped they were mapped on it.However after my 2nd mapping session,i had to fill up on shell v power for the journey home. The car did not feel any difference in driving or performance using the shell stuff. £2.00 on 1 fill up for no extra performance over 12 months can be quite a bit depending on how long a full tank of fuel can last you imho.Which in my case is less than a week.

I always used BP Ultimate in my classics as I had no other near me, then I moved and also switched to new age STi.

Carried on using BP but the car felt a bit rough, hell a lot rough - the prev owner left 1/2 tank of V-Power - so I tried Tesco 99, filled up from fuel light on so a full tank and boy have I noticed the improvement! Right back to how it was with V-Power.. only Tesco 99.

So I'd say no diff in it apart from the pennies & club card points :-)

I use tesco's 99 in my STI but have been told buy a tanker driver that the 99 does not have the cleaning agents in it like V power does,so to stop egine from choking I still use 99 but every 3rd tank full I fill up with V power to help keep the engine clean.

So is V-Power better then? Is what the tanker man said true? Was he a very clever tanker man?

I understand that shell produce V-power as their top fuel in its own right... it's their best.

"All other fuel" available at the pumps is 'regular' petrol with additives / boosters to raise the ron...

Does this make Shell fuel better than any other.... probably.
