Default Scooby sound...

Evening all.........

Was wondering if ya can help me.

Basically I have got a 98' UK Turbo 2000, no mods completely standard (although about to change that ) But wanted to ask is there a specific mod that will really bring out the scooby "burble" sound more than any other? I was thinking exhaust (specifically a milltek full system ) any other ideas?

Ta Muchly.....

Exhaust is what will do it most, the standard system is quite quiet and restrictive, just check with your insurance co as it will put your premium up.

Yeah the turbo back system would be the best shout, I have a full turbo back 3" Cobra system and it sounds like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHbek3hnEeA, You'll have to get a remap also if you go turbo back, cat back you can get away with tho.

He will be ok on a UK turbo with a full decat, may have some overboosting issues in the cold weather but as you cant remap a 98 model car without replacing the ecu....

A decent backbox such as a Scoobysport will release a lot of the sound straight away. For me, anything much louder than that is too intrusive when you're driving and is a bit antisocial as well. I really don't see the point in making your neighbours think their cul-de-sac is being ploughed up by a twelve ton John Deere.

Totally agree with ya pal.... I mean im not looking to sound like a chav here but as its only a bulk standard uk turbo it doesnt have the grunt of others is all.

Tony... sorry to go of subject here but a quick one... i take it its not a simple remap then? Once all mods were on (Induction kit, DV,exhaust) was gonna have a remap at the end as last bit.

Cheers for ya answers.

Don't put a dump valve on. Waste of time and it will be chavvy.

You cant remap the 97/98 ecu's so you have to buy an aftermarket one, not the cheapest way of doing things if you want to mod a scoob, you cant even chip these though ESL are still working on a chip, we have not heard anything for a good few months.

Whereas your neighbours and the general public hope you meet with an accident involving bubble-wrap or sound-insulating foam..

Failing that, a car-crusher.

Dump valve: your car already HAS a perfectly good one. It's a recirculating type and as such, does the engine no harm and allows it to run properly. Not so, VTA ones

All I want is the classic scooby grunt without someone thinking there is a saxo coming down the road. Lol had a look at cobra ones, sound quite nice actually and not as expensive as I thought.

Cat back system - No map needed, eases the exhaust flow and loud enough to put a smile on your face without waking the neighbours at early o clock inthe morning

For a moderate volume - afterburner centre section with Ninja 2 backbox. Quite reasonable price wise as well.

You should be aware though, that replacing the exhaust with a louder one may increase motorway drone - get a bung with the new exhaust for the longer journeys.

If you dont want to much noise then either a prodrive, scoobysport or a racebox is the way to go imho. They dont look over the top and still enhance the sound compared to the o/e system. If you want something a tad louder with more bass then a ninja 2 is ideal. If you want the sweetest flat four sound known to man then its a afterburner vortex ,and if you want permanent headaches its the blitz nur spec r .lol
