Default It's been a while

Not been on here for a few years. Just picked up a 93 classic WRX, the ad said it was an STi but until I check the numbers etc I'm not holding my breath. Not that bothered to be honest as I only paid a few hundred for it as a non runner so it was worth the punt. Got it back this evening and had a look and tinker as you do (bloody snow wasn't helping any either!)

The lad I bought if off said he was told the ECU had been fried as it had gone before and an auto electrician had sorted it out, till it went again. Couldn't believe my eyes when I looked under the bonnet. I've never seen so many earth cables! The spark had gone overboard earthing everything and anything that was metal . I wasn't so sure it was as there was no power to any of the vehicle systems so doubted it was ecu related. Opened the fuse box and what did I find? A ropey fuse link which I suspect had been causing the problems he'd had before. Ran a temp link through a 10amp circuit breaker and lo and behold she lives

Just got to give it a proper once over and sort out the binding front brakes as it's been sat doing nothing for quite a few months. I'll sling some pics up once it's no longer buried under a load of snow.

Beers on me chaps

Just a quick update. Failed the MOT today on rear seatbelt not fully retracting and rear anti rollbar links worn. Not bad considering.

Retensioned the seatbelt return spring and replaced the anti rollbar links (there not bloody cheap are they!) so it's back in first thing in the morning for a re-test.

Next on the agenda is to ditch the induction kit for an original airbox. Lose the dump valve for an original one and swap the exhaust as it's too big for my liking as the car is just a runaround (it's a stainless jobby about 3-4 inch, i'd have to measure it to be sure) and is bound to attract the wrong sort of attention from plod.

Anyone near the Wirral want to swap a standard type cat back exhaust for mine feel free to get in touch. I'll sling some pics up tommorow when I get a minute.

Oh and it's bloody embarasing constantly switching the wipers on when you want to indicate

Finally got round to taking a couple of snaps.

Picture quality seems to have been savaged by photobucket as they are a damn sight clearer on my computer
