Electric mirrors
I have a 2000 W-plate WRX STi import and my near side mirror will no longer retract electonically. I can still adjust the mirror angle but cant retract it. Does anyone know how I can diagnose the problem?

Check the switch too. You'd need a circuit tester, mine is a brass body with a sharp point on one end, used for piercing the insulation on wires, and a metre long lead with a crocodile clip on the other end.
Clip to earth, use the probe to see if any power is going from switch to mirror to close it, then check again if it's getting TO the mirror at the connector under the doorcard.

Usually the motor
i replaced the n/s on mine, i found it very hard to find the exact type of motor, once i removed the old one, so the easiest was to buy another mirror,i couldnt find a white one etc,so luckily i found a cheap silver one for £5 and took the motor out of that, the inners vary in shape, the mirror etc so i couldnt swap the entire goubins over.
its quite a fiddly job,the switch is a constant live, the only reason the mirror stops where it does (closed/open) is becuase theres a copper strip where the motor sits and it has a very small break in it,its takes ages to line this up if you move it out of sink.
use hot water to remove the glass from out of the rubber lip it sits in
