And how exactly was your speed noted? Calibrated equipment, I doubt it!!
Community speed watch team, sounds like a sub division of the blue rinse brigade At the end of the day if it was a real (and accurate) speed camera Avon and Somerset police would have prosecuted you

Scrunch up and file in the bin

oh yeh and 'On this occasion no further action will be taken'

Actually, they could clock you everyday doing whatever speed you like and im pretty sure no 'real' action can be taken, until it was clocked be a real police officer.

sounds like your speed was observed by a special police officer as if it was the real police they would of stopped you

It was two old *******s stood on the side of the road in yellow jackets hunched over a little handheld radar gun thing. I saw them but they clearly were not police so i didn't pay it much attention. They did give me the evil eye as i went past but my exhaust has that effect on some people.

ooo if they catch me again i'l be added to a list of persistent speeders. so. and then what? nothing cos they were not police, just some do-gooder from the village with too much spare time.

I did read it
I thought that your point was you were not speeding
If you were doing 39 then you should have been done

It because of people speeding in 30zones that we take all the heat on the open roads

It not what you do its where you do it

Hang on its my letter not bioforger so lets not get confused addison. i cant believe you could get so upset i drove 39 in a 30. I drove as the conditions dictated.
Clear road, no parked cars, daytime, not raining and driving a car with excellent handling. 39 was a safe speed. I don't think its the right spirit to say i should of got done.
I'm not saying i wasn't speeding (I cant be sure) but their equipment would not stand up in court hence the letter.
What i first asked was has anyone got one of these or even better has anyone got on the persistent speeder list?
Sounds like a challenge to me.

The police used to let local primary school kids do this, a bit of a guilt trip technique, but it did make people think...

P.S. At 39 in a 30 you almost deserve a ticket, for not seeing them !

I think I MIGHT be moved to write a polite letter BACK to chief superintendent Gary davies reminding him about catching burglars, etc etc and NOT just harrassing drivers. Ask him why they don't make burglars and robbers wear barcodes so they can catch THEM by camera too

Ask him too to send you a copy of the calibration certificate for the said device, since his force is supposed to work together with you to make you safe and FEEL safe, and this has made you feel UNsafe, since you dispute the speed, etc etc etc

Worth ten minutes and a stamp, IMHO.

Couch your letter in the same smarmy but semi-threatening tones as his.

I saw 2 guys in yellow jackets but they clearly weren't cops so i ignored them. 1 was hunched over the handheld radar jobbie and it just looked like he was checking his phone or something.
