Should it be so quiet?
Picked up my JDM Sti hawkeye yesterday and I am very pleased with it, however it is so quiet, no Subaru burble or even a roar upon planting my foot, it does get louder after about 4-5000rpm and it pulls like stink all the way to 8000 but on tick over it sounds no louder than a Golf?
It is stock factory standard, should it be this quiet?
And would a new haywood and Scott exhaust system beef it up a bit?

I went from the standard UK system to a true 3 inch system inc bellmouth downpipe and the noise difference is unreal, maybe a little too much for some people but can be driven relatively quietly too. If I was to do it again, I ma have gone for the same system but perhaps with a resonator midway to lessen the bass a touch, I do still love my system and the pops are great
The twin scroll engine does not have a burble due to the equal length manifolds used, the only way to get it back would be to fit unequal length manifolds. This would be a pointless change as it would then rob the twin scroll engine if it's power delivery characteristics.
I don't miss the burble at all as I prefer the exhaust note of my Spec C, you could look at fitting a quality system like a Milltek or RCM as this would improve the exhaust note and free up a few more ponies when a remap is carried out.

Agreed. I prefer the twinscroll exhaust note as well. It just sounds more JDM. If that makes sense.
I think the burble that we are all used to is more suitable on a classic where we can reminisce that noise to the Group A cars from yesteryears.
Yes, it can be as quiet as a Golf on tickover. Can be a bit disconcerting at first. That is until you give it some
