Advice needed.......
I have just realised that on my logbook the car is down as only a wrx and no mention of it being a Sti. The chassis number matches those on the logbook and all previous mot's. All the history ties in and matches the car but even the mot's say wrx and not sti, even the one's that were performed by a Subaru dealership. For example on 3rd January 2007 the car had it's 50.000ml service and then passed it's mot on the same day at the dealership. On the service sheet the techician has the car down as a Wrx STi Is it common for a car to leave the dealership new and have a error like this on the logbook I have spoken to DVLA and they require a headed letter from Subaru stating that the car is a Wrx Sti before they can correct the mistake I also spoke to someone at David Henry cars where the car was oringinally bought and was told that it will cost £25 for the letter and that the reason for the mistake was down to the fact that there was no such thing as a Wrx sti uk car in 2002 so the car must be a import
So has anyone come across anything like this before?

Yes had this with my first JDM car, corrected it using the document for amendment/change of ownership and they sent it back saying STI instead of WRX

Mine says GL on it, I don't really care what is says on there to be fair as there are a few that say GL so long as the vin plate and applied model code are right, thats all that matters

All you have to do is write a letter to the DVLA stating the correct model with picturs and some proof via the internet or via subaru UK. You should'nt have to pay £25 for any letter.

generally, yes I know it does, along with all modifications, however I have a traders policy and all they want to know is the make and model and if it is modified or not as I have cover for sports and modified cars

I recently had a VOSA pull, where the police officer noted that the engine number wasn't what it started out as.
According to DVLA I need signed letters from the engine SELLER and the GARAGE THAT BOUGHT the engine for me, plus the garage that fitted it.
Since I bought it off ebay, the first is no longer possible, since I bought it, not the garage, the second is not possible so stuff 'em.
If they want to make stuff difficult, THEY can do it or get stuffed.
