Default help needed!!

hi ive got a turbo 2000 1995 uk spec i bought this car with blown head gaskets a year ago have rebuilt the car with origional subaru equiptment and it runs great apart from one small problem it keeps knackering thermostats they keep sticking shut!! its happened twice allways on hard driving when i take them out it runs fine dosent get hot at all but cumin to winter ive had to put one back in so dose anyone know what could cause this its been tuned before i got it with all recipts and dyno print outs at 259 bhp

Tell us how you KNOW, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that the stat is sticking shut?

im a compitent mechanic so i know what im doing and every time its gone wrong its dumped water out of the overflow in the wing when i felt the rad hoses the bottom hose was stone cold both times took the stat out placed in boiling water and it dosent open placed the new one in to check and it opens on both occasions

sounds air locked, did you refill via the turbo coolent pipe?

Yeah that happened alot on my 206 gti in winter was a nightmare.

and is the rad cap definitely ok? mine failed recently and the pressure of the pump was enough to push water out the overflow - in fact the pressure of me squeezing the top rad hose was enough to do that.
