Default Scoobies in the snow?

Hi All,

Probably a silly question, but how are scoobs in the snow/ice. If this weather carries on I may get a 4x4 for the winter.

Mk1 Type 25 seem quite reasonably priced.

Can't really see myself in a diesel Disco etc.

Cheers,

MN

I've just picked my car up (22nd November) and it is a million miles away from my previous RWD effort. However it is just a saloon and no amount of AWD will help stopping, or other people driving into you.

I was thinking about an M3 CSL but I can see myself posting one of those pics on a forum of my car in a hedge in a few weeks.

Scooby with some winter tyres suddenly seems like a lot more fun.

I had fun last year on Yoko Parada 2's, still slid a little but it wasnt too bad, but now living at the top of a hill, makes life fun if i want to go anywhere and RE707's are definately not very good in the snow

I don't like that one, the seats dont look nice close up i think.

This one is better has gold fleck in the paint work which looks amazing in the light.

I recently bought a 330s (Dunlop SP 600's) and was really concerned with how it would drive in the winter months especially with a trip to the in-laws for Christmas in Scotland!!

I had been looking at winter tyres before the snow hit Essex this week and have to say I have been pleasantly suprised by how the car handles. Tony is right you still need eyes in the back of your head (wife's testament to that driving into a post in Discovery 3 in Feb), but having 4wd and diff-lock has been great so far this week and fun

MY 03 WRX with Nokian WR G2's! But i still left it at the bottom of my hill as no tyres stop you sliding on ice downhill! LOL
It gets up superb. Going down could be an issue, hahaha.

My 02 WRX is on Michelin Pilots and it's surprisingly good despite much snow and -8C. I can only imagine how good it would be on winter tyres

had 14" of fresh snow. took my 02 STI uk Prodrive into town, and the only other vehicles out were "proper" 4x4's and another scoob. Goes anywhere, worst bit is sliding on roundabouts, front wants to wash out. Tyres are Toyo Proxes, very impressed with them dry, wet, or snow.

As before, basically, you should get up the hill but it's so hot at stopping foing downhill (trick is just to use the gears appropriately).

People come on here and say Scoobies aren't any good in the snow. In fact I think they're damned good considering tyres - much better than a 3 series!

My scoob has been awesome in the bad weather, going to get it a freshen up after the bad weather as i have used it for everything, the bumpers and bonnet have the odd scratch so going to get them resprayed, just given it a full service as i have been using it that much, couldnt get any other cars off the drive.
Would have been really lost without it.

My wife has been driving about in our RB5 all week, and although we haven't had a huge amount of snow here in Malvern, on slippery ground its been fantastic.
