Default The search continues...

As I may have mentioned my purchase of a S202 was scuppered at the weekend when the seller backed out of the deal at the cast minute

So the search continues, I have seen a blob eye spec c with the de cat and powerstaion remap done and running about 350bhp.

I have also seen a December 2005 jdm hawkeye Sti which is factory standard.
No record of remap and still running the standard exhaust.

Now I know I could get the power up on the jdm hawkeye quite easily but how would it compare to a 2003 spec c in terms of drivability???

I know the best thing is to drive them both but the cars are along way from me and I am not about to go and waste peoples time going for test drives.

So spec c blob or jdm hawkeye you decide as they say.

I would go for the hawkeye jdm over a 2003 car as I like the improvements on post 2005 cars, but it depends what you want from the car, the spec c is already set up at type 20 power, but to get this from the hawkeye only needs an exhaust, panel filter and a remap so not a big difference really, The sti would be a better daily driver than a spec c due to the extra sound deadening and other extras that are not on a spec c, but all this is only MY opinion and everyone has different expectations from a car, I chose a 2005 jdm sti over a 2003 spec c as they where similar priced and I wanted the extras on an sti and realistically as a road car are very similar,

Thanks for your reply, I like the appearance of the 2005 hawkeye jdm but I will be doing track days and ring trips so am thinking the spec c will be better out of the box.
That being said I would no doubt at some point fit exe-tc suspension and polybushes to either car and up rate the brakes which might level the field a bit?

Does anyone know the weights on the two models?

difference is about 70kg I have never drove a spec c so can't comment on how much difference this makes, but the larger hubs on the later cars is probably a nice addition if doing track days, I think other than the transmission and engine oil coolers they are mechanically the same but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I fitted 2 piece front discs on mine think these help keep the hubs cooler if you track it as well. The later post 05 cars have spec suspension and geometry as well, so other than weight difference not a lot in it,

I would try to take a test drive as they both to close to call.

Ok the later car will have the wider track and the larger hubs but the Spec C will be lighter and more fit for your purpose.

It's horses for courses I'm afraid, while the S202 was an easy call over the other cars this one is a little too close and will be entirely down to personal taste.

My Spec C is a 2004 model so it still has the 5x100 PCD size but it has been modified by the first UK owner and I've just carried on where I think I can improve it.

There are a few further 'choice' mods yet on the horizon - an APS FMIC and an Aquamist water/methanol injection system into the inlet manifold which should yield a few more ponies from the VF36.

Nice car, it's only 15 miles up the road from where I work.

Can't say I know the car but it looks in good condition.

Well I will let you know when I am going to collect it and if you are about we could have cup of coffee or breakfast and have a look at the cars?

Not sure yet, the first thing will be a panel filter, de-cat 3inch exhaust and remap and possibly a three port solenoid which I hope will see about 350bhp on v power.

Then it will be perrin roll bars, coil overs and PF two piece discs and PF pads and braided hoses.

Then it will be the Nordshleife...........

Those mods should see around 350bhp
PF discs and pads are very good as are the Perrin roll bars.
