Default Forester and Winter Tyres .....!

Couldn't understand why everybody was having a struggle getting out of the estate this morning

Nokian WRG2's (all though branded as 'all season') are superb in the snow

I'm impressed with my Nokian's too, although I am not going looking for snow, LOL.
I live on a nice hill so will see how they perform the deeper and icier it gets up here.

Embarrasingly I realised I'd put the wrong damn' size tyres on the mytyres site and was being quoted £170 each for the Nokians...

Then I put the right info in (225/40/18) and the price went down to £120. A bit more reasonable, and I can't see any reason to not fit 225 when the car normally takes 235 width.

So an order being placed in the morning

I stuck em on mid Sept, They were better in the dry(apart from noise) than my horrible Yokos i had on, amazing in the wet,and now impressing me greatly in the snow. Ice nout will save you so beware the false confidence.
Still it makes you smug going past skidding 2wd crappers who look longingly as i cruise along. I like to revel in it as most of the time they laugh at how much jungle juice im gobbling.
I paid £85 each for mine the price seems a hell of a lot more now(Mmmmm), If they are done by next winter it's a must buy again. Those crazy Finns sure know how to make a good winter tyre all right.

I've not had a problem up to now even with summer tyres on, the only prob I have now is that the snow is so deep and my car is low, so it would be like a snow plow and I would worry about the front bumper getting ripped off!

Summer tyres are no match for winter tyres in these extreme conditions i think thats pretty obvious.
You might think its ok, but if you had winter tyres you would notice a big difference. Im going to buy fekin snow chains if i can. I havent been home all week its drving me mad.

A set of winter tyres should last you at least 4 years. MY Nokian WRs lasted me 4 winters before I binned them. This also means your summer tyres will last longer as they are not being used whilst you have your winters on. it is not rocket science!!

Went to order, and the price had gone up to £160.

Sod that. So have gone for some Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. I know these are pretty decent in the snow as I've used them before, probably the best summer tyre you can get for the winter IMHO

I've got nokian WRG2s on their 3rd winter now and still 6mm tread (altough last winter didn't do many miles). Should be good for next winter two, should be replaced at 4mm really to keep them effective.
