Default Should I get a panel filter

Getting my 07 STI Hawkeye Mapped on the 1st December but i cant decide whether to get a panel filter first.

I currently have an afterburner vortex back box and that is it as far as modds go.

I am looking for more power and tourque but is there any point in getting a panel filter for the sake of 40 bucks?

What do you recon?

If you std filter is clean / new then save your money bud, will make little difference.
Thats my opinion anyway.

It would help if you decide to decat it at a later date. I got one on my06wrx but I decatted it aswel.

I think it's just personal opinion but it would help it breath that little bit better but as stated would make little difference.

It wont make a noticable difference providing your exsisting one is ok. Min was mapped with a vortex rear box, standard filter, standard cats and standard fuel pump, and it was the best thing I ever did

Lucky, what power did you get with just the back box?

OP, let us know how you get on.

A K&N reusable one is cost effective as it should last the life of the car.

Nice one!
Will you do me a favour and let me know if the mpg changes? If it goes up then I would be able to use that as a reason with the wife as to why mine 'needs it'

pmsl

MPG on the same mixed driving style should be better. Mine was returning 28mpg on normal driving if only occasionally flooring it when it was at that stage..

28 mpg!! Thats the same as my pals kia sorento diesel!! That would officially mean that the only down side to subaru ownership may have been addressed. as soon as the novelty has worn off a bit, and I stop driving like I am 20mins late of a hot date ( some time in august), i might actually see that

28mpg?!? That's 50% more than I get now! Quick man maths shows I could save almost the cost of my insurance each year from the lack of fill ups!

The only time i have got any where near 28 mpg is when i changed the turbo on my old 99 uk turbo and drove to bob rawles house in swindon(85 miles) off boost before having the car remapped . The car had 60 ltrs in when i left, and when i got to bobs house had well over 3/4 of a tank left.

Different story after the mapping, put £30 in before i left swindon, took the long way home(oxford M40) , petrol light was on by the time i got home
