Angry Shocks knocking again, am I better off fitting coilovers?

Rear shocks starting to knock, fitted around 20k/2.5 years ago, had it checked and still safe but noise is really annoying.

Revolution are selling basic coilovers for around the £600 mark, better idea than replacing the shocks AGAIN?

Question

What causes this problem to occur? From what I've read on here it's very common - is it a design fault with the suspension setup or just the KYB shocks?

Have to agree, personally I wouldn't buy cheap brakes, tyres, suspension parts etc.
