minimal i think as ive bought cat d's before from the breakers and there isnt much damage not structural anyway, normally fairly easy repair.

cat d's can be anything really,, from a scratch to a frontend, ive dealt in a few in my time,

basically
cat c: damage exceeds total value of vehicle.
cat D: doesnt exceed total value of vehicle.
cat A must be scraped (everything)
cat B: parts only not to be put bk on the road.
cat X:stolen recovered (although cat D can be a stolen recovered)
cat U: unrecorded.. ( whys it a cat u if its unrecorded?)

cat D: can also be engine failure.

hope this helps.

as above, also worth noting a cat d can be far far worse than a cat c can, i have know cars put a on a cat c for scratched wing and broken indicator, and have seen many cat d's with the front ends missing.
