Default 2006 wrx import or uk?

Hi

I have got rid of my classic and am looking to purchase a newer scoob. I am looking at a 2006 imperza 2.5 wrx import ('hawk eye')

I am just looking for a bit more info on these cars.

what is the main diff between an import and uk on this model?
i am assuming more power with the import

any good or bad points about getting an import?

only mod the car has is a cat back exhaust.

want to get something standard so I can mod the car myself.

what kind of price should i be paying with 45k on the clock?

just looking for advice really as I dont know much about the newer models.

thanks

2.5 import and 2.5 UK car have same power

Different "standard spec", the wheels may be different, alarm will be different.

Not a clue on price.. market is pretty slack for Subarus...

Jdm imports are 2 litre not 2.5 and there seems to be a few issues with the 2.5 engines

how much is it?

I sold my 57 WRX to a dealer 3 months ago euro import from all brands new, could not shift it privately

Same wheels, better alarm!

If uk v euro then:

Euro will have better looking front seats but prob no airbags
No locking wheels nuts when new
No Subaru uk alarm but will have STD immobiliser

Power and engine exactly same
If Cyprus car then will be undersealed

Think that is about it

Should not be much in it for price of the two, a few hundred max.

If it's a 2.5L, it sounds like a Euro Import (or also known as a Parallel import) and see Arron's post above.

It's true the 2008 onwards 2.5L has had issues with pistons and a dodgy map.

The 2006 2.5 has different pistons (same part number mind you just to confuse).

It's a great engine with bags more torque than the UK 2.0L in the 2005 car.

JDM is a stronger engine due to it sharing the same block..so thicker walls as a result, but has nicer turbo (twin scroll) so produces similar torque as the 2.5 STI but revs better due to shorter stroke.

If you're looking to mod above 300-350bhp get an STI... don't waste money buying a WRX

so would you recommend the 2006 wrx import then? a bit wary now.

If its a wrx I'd guess it was a 2.5 euro import, cracking cars, I bought one new in 2006, registered March 06 so was also lower tax band, cracking car for the money, not all spec'd the same though, mine did not have airbags in the seats.

Yep..nothing wrong with it...

It's easy to listen to all the "if it's not JDM it's not good enough" boys on here.

The fact of the matter is they're all quick cars.. they all give a grin factor that punches way above their price range.... You'd need to put them on a track before any differences would emerge...on the road they're all just as quick as each other...(and anyone who challenges that should be banned from the public highway)

Concentrate on the WRX or STI choice rather than UK or JDM.... the STI does get a lot more suspension/gearbox upgrades the WRX didn't. But if your budget doesn't stretch to an STI, then the WRX is still a great toy

thanks. i had a look at your profile. is it the blue one with reg ending wrc?

did you add the spoler, splitter etc?

looks really nice. starting to sway towards it again.

my only issue with buying the car is the origin of the car i cannot confirm as he does not have the service book as yet. i may wait until he does for peace of mind.

Yes, thats my old one, and yep fitted replica STI spoiler, front splitter, wheels etc.

This one does sound a little dodgy but there will be loads to choose from I'd imagine, just wait for a good clean example to come up and if its UK or Euro i'd not worry and have the better of the two, pistonheads tends to have a few.

If you want any pics just say and I'll post up for you, before and after I got my hands on it.

Cheers and good luck.
