I'd save the Decat for next year when you do have the money then.
It's safer, it'll drive better, you wont have to spend money on or worry about the cel fix.

What MY model of car are you de-catting ?
I had an electronic CEL fix and it was a bit flakey and I had to use the SECS to re-set regularly. The above fix moves the sensor out of the airflow........again n0t 100% as the ECU wants to see a fluctuating signal from the rear 02 sensor. When cold the cats don't work so it ignores the initial signals..
The only foolproof method is mapping it off

No limp mode for the CEL......... as it's an 01 then it will be a bug WRX.
There won't be much performance gain with the de-cat without a re-map as the ECU will plod along thinking it's a 215PS UK WRX.
