Heatwrapped exhaust
Is there any advantages to doing it? At the moment i have to take my engine out after the headgasket went so i was thinking while it was out of wrapping my manifold and downpipe. Would i see any gains?

There is no point wrapping the exhaust system down stream of the downpipe. The headers definately benefit from wrapping but I would not say this is to the extent that it is worth taking the OE headers off and cutting off the heat shields just so you can wrap the OE headers. Next in importance is the uppipe. It has a heat shield so again if the heat shields are in good condition itis not worthwhile removing the uppipe and cutting off the heat shields just to refit it.
Keeping the hot side of the turbo hot but not the compressor is also worthwhile followed by the donwpipe.
That is the order in which you should wrap the headers, uppipe, turbo and downpipe. The hot gas retains energy and flows better and underbonnet temperatures are reduced.
If you are buying aftermarket headers, uppipe or downpipe then it is definately worthwhile wrapping.
Be very careful on what wrap you buy. It is a tedious job and you don't want to do it more than once so you need good quality material and you need to apply it properly.
All the headers and uppipes I supply are heat wrapped and in the case of the tubular headers that is a cost option as with downpipes.
DEI heat wrap 2 " x 50 ' roll is £55 and adequate to do one header and uppipe set or one 3" open neck downpipe only with plently left over for some other small job.
