Redline Magazine did an article a few issues ago about flowing and porting. Yes, there are gains in both BHP and Torque.

Definitely worth it on the STi. Get one of his uppipes too! More torque, more power, earlier boost, and a much nicer car to drive

I recommend you either PM Harvey on here or e-mail him off that website.
More power, more torque and a better spooling car.
Just ask, he's very approachable and VERY knowledgeable.

Harvey will be able to give you some info, he has done lots of "experiments" with various set ups to optimize performance. not just pub talk

If you check out his web site 'I'm sure' he has the article comparing ported versus tubies. just a case of finding the right link.

Ported will give you up to another 10bhp+ and maybe a little more torque, but the benefit is lower spool, and a smoother response. Up to 400bhp they are all you need...

If you plan big power then go straight to tubies.

FWIW you MUST use Harveys hybrid up-pipe with either manifolds to get the results or else it wont be worth doing in my honest opinion.

Ive got harveys ported headers and up pipe on my 54sti. . .

full 3" milltek
ported headers and matching up pipe
ported vf35 turbo
k&n panel filter
remapped by andrew carr 345bhp with nearly 350lbs torque

Drives and sounds fantastic on full chat , harv and darren up in darlington are great people, you wont be disappointed......
Andrew carr is in preston and really knows his stuff and more importantly wont leave the job alone till it is 100% right..

My plan was to go for about 400-420 bhp but im starting to wonder if this set up is just about spot on for our roads..... hth

i emailed him regarding this as i heard good about his work and was ready to drive down from edinburgh to get a set of his ported headers and up pipe or gt headers which ever he recommended, he wasn't interested and told me to go to rcm, so when i need advice, my headers, new turbo, injectors and fmic, I will!

WRX9181

Yep.....sounds a strange reply from Harvey as he is a real "gentleman" in the old fashioned sense of the word ?

Post 13 is a little vague, perhaps you could let us know what you have for the 410 BHP

That's very odd

I do know he was ill earlier this year, so that might have been the problem.

Yes, you are right, it gets ever more expensive chasing 400+ and you need plenty of room to use it fully.

IMHO

dunx

P.S. Still nice to have some spare bhp...

410 already.... then the tubular headers will give you much more....

When i fitted some RCM wrapped items from Harvey with his hybrid up-pipe (on my 2.5) i got another 65lb torque - made a big difference... (Max bhp unaffected as the turbo was maxed out before I fitted them).

I reckon you may get another 8-10% of each (bhp + lb).

Certainly 'must be' the next step...

Speak as i find,i have been in touch with Harvey several times over a problem i have had.He has always given good advice even though i live too faraway for him to work on my car so there was no financial gain to be had.I have now bought an uppipe off him couldnt have been more helpful....

I usually deal with emails, certainly within 24 hours although this week it may be a little extended but I am currently up to date bar 16 emails still to answer in datal order. PMs are also up to date as far as I know.
WRX 9181 : What turbo are you running as that will decide what headers to go for if I have not already answered your email?
