Going rate for scrapping a catalytic converter
As above, I have old scooby catalytic converter sitting in my garage gathering dust.
I have heard that they were worth a few notes to the scrappies due to containing platinum.
Has anyone scrapped a cat recently and how much did you get for it?

A company down the road from me had 10 of their vans in a compound. People broke in and stole all the cats. They do seem to be worth something (the local paper said £200 per cat, but I don't see that myself).

My advice would be to negotiate a price first. My downpipe started off being worth at least £20 but the scrap dude wanted to cut the ends off so he could check it was the right "type". He cut the ends off then told me it was the right type but he could only give £20 for it. Well he had me by the short and curlies then, it wasn't much use as a cat anymore! Robbing ****.
