Welcome mate.
Aye, if it's a decent price...get it!
One of my favourite colours and I think the hawkeye is the best shape of Impreza although some might say otherwise!!!

PM'd Glenn.
Thanks for the replies. Is it common for the head gasket to go or need changed? Surely there's as many faultless ones out there as problem ones?
Is there any big problems associated with the hawkeye 2.5's, especially at ~350bhp?

Looks mint, I would love those seats in my hawk STI, as mine were defiantly built for comfort as apposed to performance.. They don't seem to hold you in around corners, but on the good side i don’t get backache (getting old..er). Also the 2.5 engine is a dream to drive loads of torque and smooth..
As already stated if it is a good deal go for it.
Bear in mind you will need a bigger budget for increase fuel costs, tax and possibly insurance. Good luck you wont be disappointed

I have had mine for 12 months with no modds except a back box courteous of h&s. The car has had a new speedo, new struts new clutch (50% warn) new rims all under warranty. engine has been sweet as nut though.
scixer6r What bhp are you running? as i am thinking of "tweaking" also

Hi Norm
PM sent with reg number.
Hawkeye was a cracking car and the 2.5 was a pleasure to drive. Get it mapped and you will save 5mpg and get loads of mid-range power thrown in!!
Happy hunting Norm as it was one of the best Imprezas we had.
We sold our Hatch project car last month and it was our 10th Scoob, it's the first time in 13 yrs without a scoob as my daily driver.........a little lost but we will be working hard over the winter to bring you all something special for 2011.

Thanks for the info!!
I'm going for a look and drive tomorrow, any thing I should specifically search or give a real good inspection apart from the usual?

The new saloon is nice - but it will be a little too expensive at 33k to start stripping down and modding.......but it will be a saloon;-))
if you treat any potential impreza as stolen, clocked, engine ready to blow, crashed damaged and general suspision...........and then you will be okay!
Sounds drastic, but just be on your lookout and if its a genuine car it will start ticking the right boxes.
good luck
Glenn

Awesome car! Was up today for a look and drive and it is class, exactly what I want. The dump valve noise, the exhaust pop, the even bigger kick in the back in the Clio, it's what I need! Colour is super in flesh, Seller is really helpful and hopefully I'll have this very shortly

Depends on the year, MY06 cars suffer from head gasket issues, rear shocks knocking is quite common, ringland failure can be an issue, early 2.5's suffer from liner failure, so all you have to do really is read the 2.5ltr engine thread at the top of the page, the hatches suffered badly but that was mainly a map issue (though not head gaskets that were seemingly sorted on the MY07 hawks), but the other issues are still there (crap cast pistons etc).
Remember that this engine was not designed for the car its in!

Thanks for that Tony, it all seemed in good order and clean as a whistle, surely 4 years on the gasket would have had problems by now if was going to?
