Wagon wheel eater

Im gonna have a look at my mates scoob 2moro... its a uk 2000 professionally rebuilt and remapped safely to 310bhp about 2500mile ago...
He was driving home, not booting it, and it just cut out??? http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/cuckoo.gif, electric seem to work but not in terms of firing engine ? he has had a tow to my nearby house, checked for anything obvious but it wont restart ?
It turns over as usual, you can hear the fuel pump, its not flooded, but no sense of it firing at all, it just turns over ? ? Alarm is working as usual...
please suggest what it might be to avoid a costly trip to the garage ...

crank sensor ?
ecu ?
immobilizer?
thought please?

just my guesses but Im sure there must be ways to eliminate or better suggestions from you experts ...

you can usually discount the crank sensor if when cranking you can see the rev counter flickering/moving as its picking its signal from there.does the mil lamp come on with ignition. you can find workshop manuals on here to download, go back to basics by starting with fuses, then make sure you have all the earths and lives for the ecu.
