Around the 4500k mark should buy you a 53reg with bout 60k's on the clock. Make sure its got a solid history and preferably not too many owners. Hope this helps

I think you'll be lucky to get a decent 53 plate with 60k on it for £4500... it'll more likely have 70 - 80k on it. You may find one privately if you're lucky but I think realistically, a decent one is going to set you back £5500 - £6000.

Rears struts can be a bit weak especially if they get a knock, rear bearings are known to go around 70-80k. Noisy gearboxes can be a sign that bearings are on their way out. Engines should pull smoothly - any hesitation around 3000ish rpm could be MAF, O2 sensor or even fried pistons. ARB drop links wear and knock but they're pretty cheap and easy to replace.

Probably a few things I've missed off but they're generally pretty bullet proof so long as they've been properly maintained... definitely make sure it has a full service history (preferably by Subaru or a specialist). If you can, it's worth buying one through the Subaru Proven scheme as it'll come with a proper 12 month warranty.

Oh, and as far as LHD lights go, you might struggle over here... best to source locally I'd say - have had half and eye out for a set myself as my wife is Swedish and we drive over there quite a bit.

Just buy a set of required lights and change them over...
