Amazingly I managed 428 miles on 55.41 litres of petrol last week. Got to be a new record - 35 mpg
Wasn't trying too hard either, mostly 80-110mph and a couple of traffic jams (bloody busy, these private motorways )
Anyone else achieved similar?

Are you sure you didn't forget to zero your trip when you filled up? or did you break down at the start of a long journey and the good chappies from the RAC towed you all the way round the rest of the journey? There arn't many diesel's that can do that sort of mileage at them speeds. Well done, i wish mine would do 300 miles on a tank full. MYOO.

MY96 UK Turbo - haven't done all the math yet but I put in £37 of NUL and just done 285 miles...with just under the quarter left Not bad at all - not a record breaker but a lot better than I expected - I love my car

You got it Bruce...
The impreza used to struggle to get 20mpg on the same journey
Seriously I'm growing quite fond of it and may keep it as a runnabout when I get the skyline

Given your reported speeds your consumption seems a tad optimistic. Best I got was 33 per gallon on a 560 mile trip, 350 of which was motorway. Steady driving and didn't exceed an indicated 80mph though (MY97).

Going up to see my scottish friends matey, gotta get priorities right. this is one of the best events and owning a Lotus Elise Richard I am disgusted you are not there!!!!!!! Arranged by the Scottish Elises at the Infamous TT.
Never mind eh, just not a real enthusiast then
My priorites are set in the right order. the ring can wait till July or september, this is something I refuse to miss :d
I went last year..........

Then you need a definite trip up to Scotland Rich, honestly, the bunch up there are simply the best. Beautiful roads, great routes, great company, a massive place for all to crash at. Oh and a wee session at Knockhill
What more can you ask for???
(Just to keep this on track....erm.......mpg tends to dip a little on the runs in scotland )

30.3mpg on a 260 mile round trip to visit relatives in Norfolk. Included a bit of a B-road blast (nothing too fast, 79-year old Dad in passenger seat and didn't want to scare him ) and a slow crawl through Grantham town centre and the roadworks on the A17. Used Optimax.

I know it's a sport - but think I just got my best ever consumption going to the Big One this weekend!!!
45 litres, 235 miles and just under 1/4 tank left.
Have never seen > 250 miles from a tank yet!!
Car must have liked the meet
either that or 5th must open a dump on the tank - given I couldn't use gears that high whilst trying to keep up with turbos, a lotus and a caterham
