Just make sure its been maintained well & has full service history. Listen out for any unwanted noises such as whines & knocks.

Even the latest classics are now 10 years old, there will be lots with over 100k miles . Not a problem if it has been looked after. You're probably safer buying a UK turbo than a WRX, though the WRX will be 'better'.

Look for a full history, 6-monthly intervals. Are there any for sale on here? They tend to be enthusiast owned and well looked after, though there are exceptions of course.

Have you thought about an STi ?

Listen for knocks .. check for rust and crash damage .. pretty much the same as with any car ..

Try and get the owner to give it some beans so you can hear and feel it on boost ..
