Default DCCD-A clunking (i know i know- I searched!)

Hi All,

I've a 03 jdm sti with the DCCD.
When i bought the car about 9 months ago, there was little/no clunking from the diff when set to auto or open, and doing a tight turn.

I got the gearbox and diff oils changed, and am almost sure that from then on the clunking started to become very noticeable.
I've done 2 track days since, and the clunking was noticably worse after each day on track. (1 wet, 1 dry)

However this am, after the car had been sitting for about 2 days.
I reversed out of where it was parked, and no clunking at all (7C outside) then got to work 40mins later, clunking was back.

My thinking is that the oil in it is too thin, and when hot not doing the job it should, but cold is fine.

Anyone else able to shed some light??

Afraid I don't know, as I didnt do it myself.
Supposed to be a reputable garage though, so I'd like to think they used the right stuff.
Ex subaru dealer, still enthusiasts though.

Shock absorbers ruled out as a possible cause of the noise?

Ive got the same problem on my v6 type r, fine when I take it off the drive in the morning, but when I get to work it stiffens up, starts grabbing and clunking, I changed the oils, didnt help so bought a rear diff and changed that and still the same. I have phoned David at API that do alot of diff's and gearbox's and taken it to 2 subaru garages who all think it's the centre diff so I am having the centre and rear diff sent to API for a full overhall, should be right when I get it back though
