2006 Spec C Re-map..?
I will be taking delivery of a Spec C next week and am looking for some advice about mapping.
Will it need mapping for UK fuel in order to be 'safe'?
Who can you recommend for mapping with experience on mapping
Spec C's?
Thanks

Depends on where your getting the car from? Litchfield will give you a remap as standard on this car, otherwise your going to need to run the highest octane fuel available, and octane booster would be advisable also.

It would be safer to get it remapped for the fuel you will intend in running. People have run these JDM's on VPower without a remap, but I would not recommend that imo.
If I were you I would see what exhaust it has on it and change it for either one with a decat or sports cat and then get it mapped (upgrade the panel filter as well to a K&N panel filter etc).
Go to someone like Tracktive Solutions and have it remapped with EcuTEK utilising the MegaROM functionality. This will provide you with 340-350bhp on UK fuel and it will drive great..... trust me!

I personally think theres no need to remap untill you go for a 3" turbo back exhaust (as long as your running it on V power). The newage ecu's are more than capable of retarding the ignition from 100 to 99 ron. I've sold a few spec c's and they have all ran perfectly fine without a remap and all of them only had the remaps done when going for stage one mods. You won't notice any difference.

For the sakes of £500 (for remap) and the cost of a MY06 Spec C in any case, I would suggest you are being a proper tight wad not getting the exhaust and remap done as a matter of fact if buying a totally standard Spec C. The difference is night and day between OE and Stage 1.

Now where would I get sexy wheels from
Appreciate what your saying about the exhaust Shaun but I may well be importing the car to Norway and untill I make that decision it needs to stay standard with regards to engine modifications.
Think I'll get it mapped for peace of mind.

my my05 jdm sti has never been remapped, always run on vpower, checked with learning view and no knock at all, so I would agree with above, run on vpower till you do the exhaust, as you will do no damage on the standard mapping, although it can be improved on, I would save your money till you have an exhaust and panel filter then go for a remap. Saves paying out twice. In fact my learning view on jap map and v-power is as good as my 03 wrx was on the ppp map, just don't put any 97 ron in it and you will be ok. I even emailed my learning view to duncan dynamix and no issues could be seen. Although a remap will make it run better.
