Blob vs Hawk
I'm torn to wait out for a lower price hawkeye or just go for a blob eye sti
Looks like i will only have 10K to spend.
Are there any major differences apart from the lights?
Been tempted by this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1804283.htm

The Blob is also pre 2006 so you don't get stung with the higher £400 something car tax.
The Hawk has chocolate pistons. Their engines keep going wrong.
To be safe I have gone with the Blob STI PPP.
You'll find loads of people saying go with Hawk and you'll find laods of people saying the blob.
I actually prefer the look of the Blob eye myself.

An early hawk, pre end of March (not sure of exact date) will be lower road tax, there was also a Spec D on here a few days ago at about 10K IIRC, 60 odd on the clock.
Differences
2.5L
front end
slight different centre consol
high level rear window spolier
Wider track I think, may be wrong on that one.

I chose jdm MY05 sti, I didn't even consider a hawkeye due to 2.5 engine and higher road tax, but they are all good cars, but I would rather have a mint blobeye than a cheap hawkeye, cars are usually cheap for a reason.

> 2005 blobs have same track and 114.3 PCD as Hawk
< 2005 Blobs are 100pcd and around 20mm narrower track
All hawks are 2.5L, All Blobs are 2.0L
The 2.5L is a different kind of engine to the 2.0L, less revy but superior torque (same kind of torque as the 2.0L JDM twin scroll).
The pistons were modified for the 2.5L to reduce piston slap and engine noise...the flipside of that is they are more fragile.

Not all Hawkeyes are 2.5ltr..... the JDM is still 2.0ltr, but you aint gonna get one of them for £10k!
Depending on what year of Blobeye you are comparing against a Hawkeye (UK or JDM), there are loads of differences that are not just centered around the move on the UK cars from 2ltr to 2.5ltr.
