It's not all about out and out speed. For me it's all about the noise.

I didn't sell it for a hawkeye. I sold it as i was doing about 5,000 miles a year in it and spending about £600 a year servicing, £405 on tax and insurance is £400 more expensive than a subaru. Also i needed the 5K i save selling the evo paying for my wedding and a new bed.

So back to topic. Will living with a scooby disappoint?

Well the evo was stage one at 370 bhp, but i drove a sti on the weekend and i hated to admit but i really liked it, so did the wife.

I don't plan to race or track it. Just what something that when i put down will go somewhat.

Why JDM? Not sure on insurance as it's classed as an import.

Right insurance could be more. Speak to Moley_WRX on here. He is in insurance and is famous for getting good deals.

The JDM is 2.0 twin scroll where as the Uk is single scroll and has a more fragile 2.5

high mate have a look at litchfield imports and performance centre manchester they specialise in jdm , spec c etc thing is you need to then service these simalar intervals to your old evo.
people say buy a jdm or spec c as have 2litre engine and better performance as standard but would you notice? test drive and decide for yourself budd.
happy hunting.

Think i would be happy with a stock uk sti.

I thought the service interval was 10,000 miles or yearly?

Worms.............can of LOL. JDM benefits from Twin-scroll turbo, a rear wiper (bit of an in-joke ) and higher red-line at 8000 rpm with a stronger engine. UK benefits from 2.5 lt lump so plenty of grunt. Newer models esp Hawk onwards have fewer differences between UK and JDM models than the earlier ones. UK Hawk has adjustable centre diff. JDM has equal length headers so lose the scooby burble, sounds more like a race bike.

The majority on here would recommend the JDM . Spec C or variant thereof is widely considered the best.

Some JDM Spec C's do come with air conditioning,I have a Motorsport Spec C and it has AC and electric windows from the factory which according to most members it shouldn't have.

I would go for a JDM Blobeye Spec C if you are looking at the kind of money for the UK Hawkeye STi PPP above, the performance will be similar in terms of delivery to your EVO 8 and with an Ecutek Megarom remap you should see similar BHP/torque figures as well.

It's all about the burble.............. JDM Spec C for me all the way if i had the cash. Don't be put off by higher premiums, you get a great return for buying JDM by way of a quality product built to satisfy a market, not built down to a price.

A way away from what you are tlaking about getting but i have just spent a wad of cash turning a UK spec car into a JDM one and to be honest it would have been cheaper just to have bought the JDM one in the first place!

Good luck though, and as long as you don't mind a bit of mild understeer you will be very happy!
