Talking Hello, Complete noob, potential owner!

Hello every one,

Just thought id drop a line or 2 seeing as im new and say hi to everyone here. Ive been looking at some of the scoobies on here, some of them are mind blowing!!!

Anyway, im not an owner yet but i might be buying a 2001 impreza sport. Needs a bit of work to get it up to the standard i want but its my first scooby and only a grand so i dont wanna overdo it. Any suggestions for cheap mods and general maintenence? I just want a nice looking classic without the stupid insurance price so the sport is ideal!

Is there anything i should be looking for that would indicate is not worth buying? Im living in Germany at the moment so getting a friend to look it over for me. Hes a mechanic so knows generally what to look for but thought id ask you guys who have experince in case theres some common faults with the scooby that is easily overlooked.

Anyhow, chow for now, please post.

Hello there. Just follow the usual guidelines and use your gumption when buying. Sports are simpler cars than the turbos with less things to go wrong. A well looked after example with evidence of service history and no nasty knocks or rattles should stand you in good stead.
