Uprating my fuel pump next week on classic with ej25 block just wondering what size injectors to fit .
Scooby Regular
depends how far you might mod to... sti pinks are readily available. i have a set up for sale. But wrx 440 might be suffice

Scooby Regular
IIRC the Blue WRX injectors for the 2.5 are the same size as the old STi pinks.....550.

What size are the sti pinks and similar the wrx blues are these newage as mines a uk 2000 with a 2.5 block ,would it be ok to leave standered ones in or change as I think it's under fuelling with standered fuel pump, hence getting it fitted just wasn't sure if to change injectors aswell.
Scooby Regular
Butty........wouldn't 440's struggle with any turbo
Shaun
PS gone for millenniumracer 650's on my 2.5 conversion

Sometime soon
Just trying to get Andrew Carr to put on a "running in map" as I'm Sure Denso in 2002 didn't think it's ECU would be in charge of a 2.5 litre !!
and find a pipe for the obsolete APS DR 500 FMIC which has a split in it !!
Cheers

the classic injectors are side feed, not top feed like the pinks and blues mentioned from sti newage and hawk wrx etc.. and therefore won't fit.Originally Posted by leecalcars

pretty much the only sizes they come in are:
phase 1 - 93 to 98 fitment
grey 380cc
yellow 440cc
550cc make and colour vary
740cc again make and colour vary
some 850cc
phase 2 - 99 and 2000 which will fit the earlier cars with adaptors btw.
440cc yellow
then same as phase 1
also 900cc reflowed 440cc are available plus reflowed 550cc to about 1000cc and reflowed 740cc to over 1000cc. etc..
Assuming the Ej25 is standard internals then you should be looking to be under 400bhp with it to be safe so 550cc will be fine.. but leave little head room so 740cc would work well.
If running a smaller than 400bhp capable turbo (being general as you haven't said) then 550cc would be ideal.
A decent adjustable after market fuel pressure reg will help flow a little more fuel from smaller cc injectors also if you are say on 440cc injectors and wanting more than about 340bhp.. you could fit a fuel pressure reg like sx, fuelab or aeromotive, really not point using the cheaper makes.

Ah..........misread the OP post.
I assumed he had "ej25 standered heads"....... ie 2.5 standard heads.
oops

Yes do have standered heads with a tdo4, im struggling with the knowledge of the 701 block i have as im only running 0.5 ish boost but goes really well.
If for instance the 701 block cannot take the high commpression of a bigger turbo then bang she goes,i had a rolling road at corten miller performance of which it got 202hp with 240 torques which i was dissapointed in.
i was hoping for atleast standered 215hp but as i said someone has dropped a b25c 701 which i think is the legacy block not quite sure .
i owned a sti type r a few years ago and had it for 4 years and the current car seems very good in comparrison but just want a little more power.
thanks for your input guys

Has the car been mapped?
I would expect if not the ecu is pulling timing due to det hence the low power.
Mapped it should see 280ish bhp and lb torque
No need to change the injectors unless ypu change the turbo

this was mentioned to me that the timing might be (1 notch out) so was advised to change fuel pump, fit a, de-cat downpipe and apexi ecu, i have the standered y7 ecu would this be ok ,fuel pump getting fitted next week, decat is being sourced not sure what to do yet with the ecu simon.
Former Sponsor
timing being 1 notch out would be referring to the timing belt which is something different..
the standard ecu is expecting a 2litre engine and will be no doubt pulling timing to keep it safe.. it needs mapping.
Apexi ecu will work fine once fitted and mapped etc.
I would drive it off boost until sorted.

so do you recommend the apex ecu or would it be possible to map the y7 .
I can get hold of one no problem what should i be paying i wont need the commender will i just stand alone ecu.

standard ecu is mappable indeed, Apexi has the advantage or being live mappable rather than having to stop and program a change in.
However both still use the maf which on a 99 is fragile so a simtek is worth considering.
Apexi ecu with commander around 400~450 without commander maybe 350~400.

simtek being another ecu am i right in saying, that dosent need the maf....?
any particular place except ebay that sell the apexi you would recommend simon.

yes simtek is another aftermarket ecu whcih runs from MAP sensor not maf.
on here or ebay etc.. for an apexi.
Obviously can supply a simtek if required.

what price for the simtek apposed to the apexi

My 2006 wrx 2.5 was 227 bhp on standard td04 and injectors. remapped got 280 bhp and 340 torques on standard injectors. Now running a tt36 turbo and mapped to 360 bhp 390 torques on standard injectors. dunno if that info helps.
