STI6 or Celica GT4 WRC ST205
Which car is better in terms of:
Braking
Acceleration
Handling
Cost of parts
Cost of servicing
Cheaper to tune engine
Easier to work on
Less likely to rust
Insurance and most of all which offers the most fun?

ive just sold my GT4 and loved it to bits went well and stop well and it was standard so with a bit of work done on them i would think they would be very good only reason i sold it is because im wanting a 03+ sti the insurance was not to bad as they are group 17 if i remember correctly. Mine didn't have body rust and was undersealed when it was imported parts aren't to bad as long as its not the supension as that is costly (silly money). handling was good but for some reason i never really felt 100% pushing it the WRC spec come with some added stuff like anti lag and water spray but they weren't connected/working as standard and would need some work to get them working. I have owned a GT4 and dont get me worng its a driving to the beach car in truth.
The subaru i have out weighs the gt4 in every aspect,
the suspention which is rubbish on the GT4 when it goes wrong is expensive as it has figure of 8' etc.
not to put you off but
a subaru is cheaper to buy funner to drive and cheaper to maintain,
hope this helps

I did a clutch on my GT4 and took 3 days due to the suspention etc subaru 4 hours to do the same lol
subaru parts are way cheaper as there is so much of it about aposed to the ever getting rarer gt4 parts

What was the average price of a full (everything) service on a celica?
And subaru's are definately not cheap to maintain properly the grp 17 price reflects more than just the performance of the car, parts etc come into that, oem parts will be cheaper and more available, subaru parts wont be (and they are just going up another 12.5% )

get the scoob for every day and keep the gt4 for weekends, they are special cars and I wish I had not got rid of mine, I can only compare it to the wrx as I havent driven an sti. Wrx feels quite numb compared to gt4. I do my own servicing and parts prices seem quite simalar.

The Celica was the most successful rally car ever! Modifications and tuning plenty full as the Subaru. As much as I love and prefer my Scooby, the Toyota is far more reliable and far more thrashable then any Scooby. You've only got to see how many blow up on this forum to come to that conclusion, mapped properly or not.
End of day it's down to personal preference and all though in my opinion the Subaru is less reliable I prefer it.......I've owned both, standard and tuned!

Thanks for the replies.
Are the Jdm gt4's group 17 too?
What exactly are the figure of 8's?
I read that its expensive to replace the superstrut suspenion at 500 a corner, wouldnt it be better and cheaper to fit coilovers?
It will be my weekend rally slag, i'll probably get a seat arosa for mon-fri.
How much did you guys pay for your gt4 insurance? less than the impreza?

insurance is lower than a impreza even for my old jdm the fig 8s are a small link that connects the bottom of the shock absorber to the front lower arm and it is expensive to get all the superstrut replaced but just make sure you but one with the work already done

I have had a ST205 GT4 for the last 2.5 years, great car as an everyday car. Better handling out of the box for road use than a standard Scoob. I have had a few of the expensive things done but they are not that bad, but in the last 2 years it has not missed a beat ! Very easy to up the boost safely to 1.1 bar for 300bhp.
If you want to modify though, Scoob every time. Way cheaper to do so as the market is so much larger.
2 very different cars though at the end of the day, you pays your money as it were

ive had a st185 and a st205 and i did like them but they just feel so slow not a patch on a sti to be honest mate. nice cars but the sti would have to be my choice out of all the turbo cars ive owned evo,impreza,200sx etc etc the celica was the most disapointing imo
