horrible noise under breaking
Sorry for the typo BRAKING
I have a feeling i am going to answer my own question. but i have recently fitted new mintex front pads which have squeeled constantly. I have applied more copper seal which seems to have sorted the squeeling , now under heavy breaking from over 90mph there is a god awful noise that sounds like the pads have no meat on them. I am thinking i may have warped my discs. Is there any chance of these sorting them selves out in time or is it best to bite the bullet and buy new discs? and if i did buy discs should i replace the pads too or could i use the ones i have just fitted as they are nearly new?

Does the steering wheel vibrate when you brake, this usually happens with warped discs. I have the same grindin noise from the back when i brake, but it was new discs and pads that was fitted at the same time, i just put it down to noisy harder compound pads....

cant say i have noticed excessive vibration. It could be the harder compound, but i have had these pads before and always found they feel quite soft under the brake pedal , that is why i went for the mintex 1144 pad. Always dusty but had a nice feeling under braking. The car still stops that is the main thing, i am just not used to this god awful noise when braking

If it only happens at high speed then I'd say it's likely an issue with the rear disks. The reason it happens at higher speed is the brake balance with the rears only kicking in properly at heavier forces.
Did you put the shims back in behind the pads?

yes i put the shims back in, i put copper grease in front of the shims( directly onto back of pad) all was fine for a couple of days then my o/s front started squeeling so i took them out again and put a little more copper grease on which seemed to sort the squeeling, but now this droning under heavy braking. I am confident it is coming from the fronts. If you have ever driven a car where the pads have been shot it is that sort of noise. It does haul up as normal i think and in a straight line. I think replacing O/E pads with mintex 1144 on half worn O/E discs could be the problem i went down this route to save a few quid but as usual when i seem to do something to save money , i end up spending more!!! i hate cars
