Question

I can't quite work this one out,is the car classed as a 'grey import' and if so is it not to UK spec, having looked on the URL, if you tick all the options that come as standard on a UK spec car (i.e Air-con,Mica paint,Fog lamps etc...)the total price without delivery to your door comes to aprox. £17.5k which is on a par with Euro import prices, there could be other things missing such as underseal !

Gold Wheels - RARE???? ha ha do me a favour If you think they look good, then get them

I am slightly confused over the deal?? 18K?? has it got Air?? Personally I, too, am lazy - so I get mine from my friendly UK dealer (there are discounts available in the UK you know???) its NOT like it was 2 years ago ...... you CAN talk the price down.

Something that has always troubled me about this route to buy a new car - they deliver it to your door - fine - what if it has a scratch down the side of it????? The deals I looked at made you pay 100% BEFORE the car arrived - try turning it away then - and waiting another 6 months??? hmmmmm - NOT the kind of deal I do!!

With the UK dealer if it has a big scratch down it - just dont hand over the balance - and buy elsewhere - immediate delivery by the way!!!

Hope it goes fine - but why 6 months???

Your thread title says under 16k, but the car you say you bought cost just under 18k.

Which is the right amount ?????.

Confused

Chins,

If you buy it with only 1 years warantee, and no options (ie the same as a UK car) and collect it youself, it is that price. But if you are like me, and lazy you will want delivery and some nice options.

Anyway, why ask me, look at the URL I posted.

Any thoughts on Blue / Black with gold alloys ?? I rekon this will be a rare colour.

Have a look at

Cool

I heard an advert on the local radio station yesterday stating that Town & County in Aberdeen were offering 2k off the price of a MY01.

Stuart

p.s. usual blah about not being connected to the company, but a nice fat brown envelope would be good

Thumbs down

I just tried the quote on greyUK. The final price for the UK spec is about 10% less then a propper UK car. It's not worth it, as you will lose more then the saving when you come to sell. Imported cars are worth a lot less then proper UK cars.

I imported my own MY2000, but I saved 30% in total, so it was worth it.

Guy's,

This price is not a Grey import but a parallel import.

It is undersealed, and has got aircon.

It is the same car as you would buy in the UK.

The exhange rate is 1.58, and I work out that even with all of my options, I am still saving 4K off the UK price.

I havnt yet decided if I want delivery, or if I am gonna get it myself. but the price of this is £450.

Anyway, the only way to tell its an import will be the dealer stamp of the registration form. Everything else will say UK.

Anyway even if I was saving only one grand, then I would stil do it. This country has to realise that it cant keep ripping peole off !!

A difference of £1K would be worth doing????

You cant be serious??

Good luck anyway - 6 months?? long wait!!

The 6 months is probably worth £2/3K for me - I just couldnt do it, knowing that my UK dealer, 8 miles away has one in stock, give me a weeks wait anytime!!

I'm with PSLewis on this.

I'm too much of a here and now kinda person.. I could be dead in 6 months time..

Fancy being dead with a Scooby on order ?

Besides, "it's only money.. you're supposed to spend it.. otherwise it wouldn't be called money, it'd be just numbers and bits of paper" (Turning 30, Mike Gale)

Aha,

I dont think you know the full story.

I have got a company car at the mo, and the lease dont run out till september.

When September arrives, I will opt out of my comapny's plan, and drive a new Scoob.

Hows that for planning ahead.

If i Die, then my other half will have a lovely brand new gift. It would **** me off, but I am sure I wouldnt care (Being dead an all!)

So, bull**** aside, If I order it now, it will arive in September. Perfect ..

I rest my case.

Sure. I tried Holland as well and it's definitely not as good as Belgium as the moment.

Try Garage Troch on 00 32 53 80 18 04 and ask for Hans.
Tell him that Mark Cary gave him the number.
(With any lucj he should throw in some WRX mats for me for the business I'm sending him...)

I decided to go straight to Belgium.
Should be arriving in August for about £16000 with bucket seats and a 3 YEAR warranty.

Just have to add the CAT1.

I was thinking about a MY2000 at first but this is much cheaper than the remaining 'new' old ones.

GreyUK look cheap but you can knock off about 700-800 by going direct.

Also wanted to add that Grey UK are using some very optimistic exchange rates.

Ask them what rate they are using, then try to actuall buy at that rate.... You can't.
Get a quote in the actual currncy and compare to a quote from a Belgian dealer.

Remember that the price GreyUK give you isn't fixed and if they are assuming an exhange rate of say 65Bfrancs per pound then remember that you will have to pay more if you can't get better than 63.

The Belgian cars are full UK spec whatever anyone says.
You would have to wait until May for a UK car with bucket seats anyway.

I'm quite happy to wait 5 months to save £6000. Those you who couldn't wait that long seem a bit odd to me.

Question

B52,

Could you let me have the contact details for the dealer you are using in Belgium. I got a quote from Holland a couple of months ago, and that worked out about £18k, not too good a deal.

Thanks,

Gary.
