iphone 3gs or blackberry

Agree with Tony, the iPhone is a pain for email compared to the bb but for use of the Internet, apps it's so easy and I have not come across a handset that is as good IMO. The app store makes it all so easy.
Work out what you want to do be it email or Internet and then you have your answer

Yes there is, but so many average things you can do with it, its main characteristic is applications, thats where it dominates, for everything else there are far better phones on the market, its been said, jack of all trades, master of none, even my 3GS isnt the best phone i have owned, its the best for apps, granted, but for a phone, its pretty sucky really, and I work in the mobile industry!

3GS but would recommend the 4 if you can get hold of one, faster Internet, better camera, email also improved,hd quality screen,it's the dogs nuts, don't let people tell you different, app store and music store are just a side line as to what the iPhone can do,all the top phone mags can't be wrong,it's up there at the top and will take some beating.
But at the end of the day,it's what you want a device for ? Making calls or wanting entertaining.

Thats a bit off topic it still depends on what the OP requires, the BB cannot be beaten for emails, the iphone is NO WHERE near as good as a BB for this, and it makes better calls BUT the iphone will dominate in the apps area, will eat its battery in 2 days if your lucky without using it (the BB will last a week to 10 days), still when the OP does eventually tell us what he wants it for, he will get more of a straight answer

The BB is a business device, its email has none of the "issues" the iphones email has, its designed to do emails, it will happily run more than one email account (you can have some difficulty with this on the iphone), so you can run a business email account and several private email accounts on a BB (try it on the iphone, dont mention push email either its a swear word for apple )

I have both - bb for work and iphone for private.
For work stuff, particulary synching with outlook (or other email) the bb is a far better bit of kit.
For fun stuff, apps and general 'wow' the iphone wins.
Bit like asking whether a STi or Evo is best, both have big and loyal fan bases and hard to objective views. Best idea is to work out want you actually want it for, once this is clear the choice will be obvious.

I don't think anyone has said the BB is 'rubbish' in this thread. It has however been said several times that they are 2 different devices with different uses
The OP has chosen the IP as i suspect they did not require the business functions of the BB and likes the thought of the available apps for the IP.

had the iphone 3gs for 18 months, it was pretty good, but then i got a blackberry bold 9700 as an upgrade and I honestly prefer it. Mostly for its blackberry messenger function, i have about 15 mates with blackberries and just chat to them for free.
oh and also, the battery on the iphone is crap, i had to charge it everyday.
