Default 99 forester S turbo

I know this is an impreza forum but I have found forester.org not the most helpful as on here. Basicly been using vectra estate as a everyday work horse but it's showing signs of ageing so was thinking of a forester as it's replacement as they can be had at a good price and have come across a clean one so was looking for some opinions on them

Will be used as the daily work horse so how will it get on, I assume the servicing and parts will be the same as an impreza but how reliable are they if looked after?

Silly things but how many parts for an impreza can be used on the foz, wheels, suspension, seats, top mounts, turbo, injectors which of these can be used or do they need to be bought especially for the foz

Any help views and opinions would be welcome

Thanks

they are really reliable apart from the rear suspension, as it's getting older the springs go soft so the back end sits low, new springs and bobs you uncle there spot on again. as scooby moz has said they are basically an impreza chassis with a forester shell, sti suspension is a good upgrade if you want it to sit that bit lower and you can also turn them into a proper sleeper as they look like any other estate car, but have that ej20 sat under the bonnet. plus jap import is the way to go as the uks only had about 150 bhp japs were over 200.

Moz not so much after the power mate just a reliable car, train of thought was stick with what I know and that's a Subaru. Never had a foz but they seem to be more of a work horse compared to the impreza and the boot looks easier to get my german Shepard in compared to the impreza wagon

Pm me a link mate and I will take a look

Not so much after a sleeper but it's nice to know that if a little bargin pops up on here I may have the option of a cheeky upgrade or two.

From chatting to the owner he had the cambelt changed at the garage but they said there were 3 engines in them and the first two belts did not fit but the one that did was for the sti engine, so either the guy has been blagged, the garage is telling the truth and they did come with 3 different engines or it has had a later sti engine fitted due to the original popping. Comes with 4 pots as well!

Cheers mate, that looks might clean just not looking to spend that much, really would like your wagon but as said I'm only looking to spend 2 a 2.5k tops on a work horse if I bought that I would be too woried about getting it damaged

Any other views on the forester
