3 Bridgestone tires and fitted - £100
I needed some new tires and I wanted to stick with my 225/40 18 Bridgestone Potenzas.
I needed 3 in total.
Anways, after thinking I would have to pay around £350 for them. I got them for £100 including fitting from The Tread Shop in Chichester.
They were part worn and had 4mm of tread left.
From new they only have 8mm.
A bit of a bargain me thinks. And I bet a few other members on here will benefit from the info as well.

Did they have any punctures ?
You need to be careful with part wonrs one thing i would never skimp on is Tyres a there the only four parts the connect the car to the road. It's worth investing in good tyres especially!!

No punctures or any damage at all.
They are a very well known company down here.
They buy them from the germans mainly as they have a higher legal tread limit than us.
I'll post the code in a bit once I've found it.

Got two Dunlop runflats with 7mm left on them quite recently for a hundred quid, not sure i would bother fitting tyres with only 4mm left on them?
Seams a bit pointless really, 2mm wear and then need to be swapped

For the sake of 3mm, I save £300.
When the car goes next month for my new 06 STI, I would have been stupid to put brand new ones on.

bollocks
places like this are killing the industry imo , i had to go through so much rigmorole just to get a licence to trade as a tyre shop it took over a year in all to get it sorted in the end . then 3 months after i get in some chiefs rock up into an abandoned yard a mile away put up a hand painted "partworn tyres sign" and off they go selling this second hand sh*t from germany (mainly winter tyres) in a wooden shed ?? wtf !! they have no phone number so im getting people calling me complaining about tyres failing , goin down and a heap of other **** . i have even had a guy threaten to come and smash my PAk1 FACE IN with a hammer 
(im irish and far from asian).
it makes me mad that im trying to run a legitimate business selling safe legal products and these people can set up businesses like this selling **** and realistically putting peoples lives at risk and a blind eye is turned to it .how can i be vetted so much and these places arnt .
how do you know where the tyre has been/come from ? ?
is it damaged?
these places also do illegal tyre repairs charge you a fiver off you go thinking you are safe with a bit of string and glue dangleing from your tyre
its something that should be thought about. at the end of the day they are the only thing that keep you on the road .
and yes you may have got a blinder of a deal , but how much of a blinder is it when the tyre shreads on you on the motorway?

I understand where your comming from as you are effected by this as you obviously sell tyres,but it suits the OP needs. He is trading the car in so why on earth would he want to folk out for a set of new tyres.
I have heard they are changing he ystem now and that they will be banning part worn tyres here in the UK. As there is no guidlines as to what they can and can't sell.

And they weren't trading from a little shed. They had a decent warehouse and were nice people.
Once I had a bad experience with Virgin Media, but I wouldn't come on here and start telling people how mad they are if they chose to go with them.
Give advice granted. But don't be a muppet and go off on one just because someone wanted to smash you in because you were Irish.

it doesnt affect my business that much and they have gone now , but its crazy how they can just rock up , trade for 6 months , close down , move somewhere else, open up and do the same over and over without ever being checked etc
in a country so extremely strong on road safety, speed ect it seems odd to me how it gets ignored. drink driving kills , drug driving kills , how are dodgy tyres any different ??

A tyre with a puncture?
So as long as you check for yourself they have no punctures and the tread is good and even then there isn't a problem.

I would simply buy another lot of 4mm for another £100.
I would have spent the same amount as you. But I would have got 8mm for the same money you paid for 7mm.

i personally bought new tyres. I have bought part worns in the past. I cant see the problem as if you buy a used car you are buying part worn tyres. Also buying used alloys you are doing same.

You got 2 tyres with 7mm left on them for a few hundred pounds.
I said I could buy another lot of 4mm tires for another another £100.
Therefore I would have got 8mm for my £200 and you would only have got 7mm. (Plus I would have got an extra tyre).
It really isn't difficult to understand.

3 x 4 = 12.
2 x 7 = 14.
Just to clarify; 4mm is less than 7mm. Also 12 is less than 14 - however this irrelevant as the tyres in question only had 4mm and 7mm on.

I would take the nigh on brand new (7mm ones over 2 different lots of battered 4mm ones any day of the week to be honest.
But it is a moot point now.
