Can anyone suggest an enlightened insurance company who realise that a Rollcage helps safety and handling, rather than making me out to be a lunatic?

Can anyone suggest a good company who ain't scared of a Rollcage / Fully Rally prepped car?

(i've already got a quote from Comp Car, just trying for others)

owbow, as you may know my car is pretty much track-prepped like yours - I'm with the ubiquitous A.Flux - they loaded me about a tenner for the addition of the cage..

ps it's full six point homogolated safety devices one.

This insurance industry generally class someone who wants to put a roll cage in a road car as "lunatic", I mean why do you want one!?

Im sure if they could, they would ask you about how you drive, it would just be a bit tricky to get the data they want in order to assess the risk of how you drive.
Thats why groupings make it nice and easy

I have to have a cage because I Stage Rally the car, but it has to be road legal for link sections, so it has to have normal Road Insurance for that.

Cool

Owbow,

Maybe you could try explaining the situation to the brokers and going for a very low limited mileage policy... so it looks like the car isn't in general everyday use... (assuming it isn't your everyday car, that is!)

BTW: What spec is the car built to? I think you would have problems getting insurance on a rally-car certain mods... e.g. IIRC, it may well be illegal to run a brake bias adjustment system on a road car because you change from the road-safe diagonally opposed front to rear split systems.

i think you'll find that it's down to the fact that the cage transmits the shock (and therefore damage) of an accident further than it would if you didn't have a cage, therefore resulting in a bigger payout, which i think I'm right in saying is one thing that Insurance companies definately don't like.
Good hunting

I had the same problems when I checked a while back..

Insurance companies would let me do virtually anything to my cars.. engine.. brakes... suspension... no probs

But when I mentioned a cage they died

Oh well...

They were totaly happy with my jap import, all my mods and the cage. They even came in lower than NU did for a standard UK car.
