Default Decat Downpipe on a classic.

I have a MY95 classic and i am fitting a decat downpipe. Is the sensor at the bottom of the standard pipe, under the cat a lambda sensor or a cat on fire sensor? If it's a cat on fire sensor am i right in thinking you can disconect this and put a blanking plug on the decat pipe.
cheers Mike.
