Default Some pics of a Classic "time attack" track car my shop built

We built this tiem attach car for a customer from his old Rally car, it started life as a 2000 2.5 RS (2.5l SOHC N/A) It has been a hobby Rally-X car for several yearsbefore he blew the engine runing it on track and decided he did nto want to get dirty anymore. So we swapped in a entire 2005 STI driveline all the way out to the brakes. Included is a fully built EJ2.5 with lightened crank forged H beam rods, forged pistons, ported heads and custom cams. Makes a conservative 450 at the wheels on 93 octane pump gas, and still retains everything exept Air con and cruise.

Looks pretty good to me.

One thing though, when you rebuilt it, why did you put the steering wheel on the wrong side?

Ha HA! yeah...well he liked it where it was

those are 18x9.5s with 275 tires on them. had to make 12mm spacers to space the arch flares out to clear them, and it is still super tight.

The accusump is nice because it basically just stores pressurized oil for use if the engine loses pressure like if the pickup gets uncovered in a long turn. It also works as a pre oilier on cold start, just open the valve, the oil pressure goes up and then you start it.

We ran into the issue with the new age STI suspension pushing the wheels out, as well as the wide wheels and tires, we had to go something to get it to clear, and he was not willing to go with a wide fender/22B kit as he was afraid it would not be wide enough.

As for the top mount, we are more of a fan of them as a good off track into the sand/tire barrier wrecks a front mount super quick and risks ingesting sand/debris into the engine. We also have a setup for a intercooler sprayer that either works off a switch, or from input from engine load/temp so on a normal even it will spray the IC down from time to time.

Two things that have always baffled me is, what's the difference between American horsepower and UK? Also, how do Americans get so much power out of their cars running "pump gas" without det?

This is where I'm confused, I know lots of people say American HP is higher, but no one says by how much or why. Surely someone must know?
