To start with they are a 2.0lt lump with high quality pistons as standard, plus they are fitted with a twin scroll turbo setup allowing a much earlier spool up. Imo these engines are by far the best to thrash as they love to rev and are much stronger than the uk version Are you looking to buy a jdm hawkeye then? If so then i can help you out there as my close friend is just about to sell his 56 plate Jdm hawkeye with the full type20 kit

semi closed deck I believe, VF37 turbo. 350bhp is normal with air filter, exhaust and remap. rev limit at 8k revs. gearing is lower than UK car but I find mine acceptable. Think the diffs are different to UK cars as well. Loads of info on net though, just google uk vs jdm and loads of different forums and posts asking the same.

Latest hatchbacks are 308ps, think the hawkeyes are 300ps approx with 308lbs of torque, now in the real world its more like 315bhp and 330lbs of torque but the output is higher than that of a similar aged UK 2.5.
As for gearing, well yes its lower than a UK car (5th and 6th only) but it revs higher so at 70mph in 6th your doing 3000rpm, not really straining the car is it?

The LM400 is capable of running over 400bhp on the OE TMIC and OE Inlet, on a Newage JDM 2ltr.
Mine made 398bhp on the rollers with this spec (plus decat, injectors and 3port boost solenoid) but was slightly down on airflow due to environment conditions. Cooler air would of seen it over 400bhp.
For an LM400 it is questionable whether you need to change the OE injectors and OE 2 port boost solenoid. Probably not worth the extra expense for the (in theory) small gains.
