Standard oil is shell helix 10w40 semi synthetic, if your car isnt drinking the stuff then you may as well stick to this

Avoid 50 - it's like treacle ... power sapping drag.

10W-40 Semi is what Subaru recommend ... they know best.

Pay £15 for 5 Litres and change the oil every 6 months - you are sorted

Pete likes to promote the "cheaper" side of performance parts and fluids. He's renowned for buying his window wipers and oil from Lidl's Me, I prefered to spend a little more on a better quality oil when I had the Scoob. Millers was my personal choice.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again ..... if you believe the marketing hype then pay silly money (£30+ for 4 Litres) - if you have any independant thought patterns whatsoever then you buy quality which costs a fraction of the oils which need to cover their advertising costs!

This is what I have been using for many years -

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-990-fuch...productDetails

Not from Opie Oils mind you - £20 is a bit steep ..... you can get it for £15 (5 Litres) if you look. I cannot fault it. And I have owned an Impreza Classic since new for 10 years and 100,000 miles. I am living proof that expensive oils are a con - as the better value oils have performed superbly!
