Default Air intake pipe

Hi guys,

my car is a 96 import code GF8C58D and I need a new air intake pipe.
The one that goes onto the turbo a link to one here.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT.
my one has a small split in it, should i replace with this item or should i upgrade still running standard everything inc air box.
If i upgrade which should i purchase if anyone has a link to one would be very handy, cant really afford mega bucks ones theres lots of silicone ones on ebay and I know a lot of them are inferior quality but they all look like they go from the turbo to the maf without the box bit in between, any help to this would be appreciated sorry for not being very technical...

Pretty sure there isn't an upgraded version available for the early intake pipe . But if you do find one let me know.

Had a samco one fitted to mine at api last week, due to a large split where it mounts to turbo,im still using standard air box and maff, think its a universal one for early and late classics, not cheap at £200 but probably better than original sbaru item.

I think samco do a 90 degree silicone hose to fit ,but are quite expensive, you could take the measurements, and buy a silicone 90 degree elbow, and block off your inlet pipes. Then again the ebay jobby in the link is cheap enough so personally would go for that, cant see you splitting another one unless your really unlucky.

Failing that ,the link above should help.

Could the resonator be removed the one that is in between the maf and the turbo is there any benefit of this or problems in doing it, just engine bay looks tidier without it...

MRT in Australia offers a replacement, it's also pricy though: http://mrtperformance.com.au/compone...art/Itemid,32/

I just used an industrial pipe instead and rerouted the IAC hose. I don't use the boost solenoid, but you'd need to reroute a hose to that one aswell.

not worried about the boost solenoid that can stay there but as for the iac hose is that the medium one that goes to the resonator, where did u reroute that one too if you took out the resonator..

How do the ebay specials cope with 300 Bhp of suck? Would they collapse? The price of £65 is alot more attractive than £200, but then you do get what you pay for.

PROPER induction pipes have a wire coil running through them to prevent collapse. The cheap ones are usually just a silicone tube and will collapse at high air speed.

Oh great joy ! another induction kit running in the hot air of the engine bay.

Watch out for high intake air temps after a period of sitting at traffic lights or any traffic jam when heat soak will be apparent.

Try to either build a wall or fence around it and get a supply of cold air from outside the engine bay into it.

OR extend the pipe and fit the intake filter in the void space outside the engine bay, inside the wing.
