New connector is standard current connector found on front, side airbags and seat belt tensioners. These are all 2 wire connectors. Your old connector has 3 wires in and 2 out so one must do nothing, have a good look and decide which one is the dummy. Although the new type connector seems to have colour coded wires it can only be to the detonator and I can't see why the direction of the current can make a difference (I know that a 2.2 ohm resistor will fool airbag computer all is well and there's no direction on that). You need a new type connector plug and splice that to the two live wires. One wire must be an earth, if you can study wiring diagrams of both the new and old you should be able to figure which is the earth.
