How did he do it? Missed a gear? Over revving?

And can you tell us what, if any, mods you have, especially those that give more torque, since it's torque that will do for a gearbox?

mods,,,,, the engine is a standard V3 STI boost spike to 1.4 bar and holding 1.1 bar,,,, its slow as anything tbh as ive done handling and then the box,,,,, which has just died pmsl

how hard is it to rebuild a box so i keep the ty54 casing and i have a ty52 V3 STI box that i could use the 3rd gear out of i guess perhaps ?

You dont know how fatigued the box was when you fitted it......
Basically **** happens, it would have happened to you if you where driving IMHO.

I'm now on a 2006 box, at least you know it wont have done too many miles........
