Default Are all TD04 turbos the same?

I have fitted one from a 07 plate wrx onto my 99 plate classic UK, as mine was leaking oil. The spool is now quite a bit later and it cannot hold as well at top end - has been remapped and on the dyno - changing it for one from the same year tomorrow to see if back to normal.

Any advice on this would be ace - thanks Ade

maybe actuator needs tightening up a bit to reach your target boost. Have you anyway of checking held boost

yes - have even removed the actuator from my turbo onto the new one. It is producing same power but spooling 800-1000 rpm later.

My original turbo hit 1.2bar at 3300, now it take 4200ish

might be the uppipe leaking gases causing it to spool up later as there would be less pressure being made in to the turbo

I have a good 2nd hand one if you need a another turbo.
30,000 miles use off an 06 car.
But sounds like the you will get the problem sorted and not a turbo Issue.
PM me if you need it.

There have been minor mods to the Subaru TD04 but they are basically the same.........the only one that was substantially different was for the USDM WRX and I think that was called a TD04-13T (I'd have to google it LOL)
