I thnk the Harvey ones aren't pre-shaped ? I was hoping for one that didn't need a lot of messing around to fit it?

I think his kit will do two cars though, which makes the price right if you share. I'll PM him and see how easy they are to fit

I've got an Owen Developments one on mine. Not the cheapest, but a good fit. As for the downpipe as well, I wasn't aware of one that covered both the turbo and the downpipe? Don't people just heat wrap the downpipe?

I stand to be corrected, but AFAIK the VFs don't like getting too hot. Mines also a VF28 and I've wrapped the exhaust fully up and down, but to be safe left the turbine housing. Coupled with ported/matched headers certainly helped response.

On my VF28 Iv heat wrapped the bellmouth downpipe & kept the existing turbo heatshield, just had to cut away an edge or two on heatshield to accomodate bigger downpipe.

Trouble with the ones you have to cut and then make all those holes to pull tight is they go hard and fall in bits, and if like me you have to keep changing grearboxes they soon fall to bits when removing the downpipe.

I bought this one, great price and arrived with a week, you can put your hand on it without getting burned after a run and they are dead easy to fit/remove.

I will do. It looks like the best option maybe a blanket for the Turbo and then wrap the downpipe

Hi Guys: Stumbled on this. I do turbo blankets which are £55 for a single turbo and £85 for a kit to do two turbos with material left over. The larger of the two kits represents real value for money. These are not jackets as in the links above but consist of a large section of heat wrap that you cut to size with scissors and wrap round the exhaust section of the turbo. It is this wrap that is the main insulator. Applying this is not difficult. This is held in place with some tie wire and on top of that goes an insulated metallic reflective covering also cut to shape. This is held in place with metal ties supplied in the kit. If you have not fitted one of these before budget on an hour, it is simplicity itself and tools required are scissors and a pair of pliers to cut the wire or pull the ties.
Keeping the hot side hot and reducing under bonnet temperature which this turbo wrapping most certainly does has several advantages and will improve spool on the turbo.
If you are interested in a group buy on the above let me know.
I don't want to step on Steve's toes but if you want to look at a group buy on actual blankets similar to those above I am prepared to do all the work on your behalf if there is consensus.

OK guys. Steve and I have communicated and I am not treading on his toes. Cheers Steve. Between us we need a concensus on what everyone wants. I have already emailed my most suitable contact in the US to see what is available. Separately, I have ordered a sample heat blanket to assess quality and thermal properties. I am cautious about untried stuff because there is some crap out there. If we can agree who wants what I am prepared to run the group buy on our behalf and the costs will be to within a penny of what the purchase and shipping is plus import duty if applicable. I suggest for budgeting purposes we aim for ten turbo heat shields and I can always absorb two or three for long term use if we fall short of the target. We need to know what we are aiming for, the Subaru specific items may be too small for some of us and so on so we might need a mix and that is what we need to determine plus who is interested.
Over to you guys.
As an afterthought I can include single or double turbo kits as described above at £47.50 and £77.50 for anyone that is interested as part of this group buy. (plus postage - say £5.50).
Once I get feedback on here I will start a Group Buy thread.

I would definitely have one for a vf48 as long as I don't need to remove the turbo to fit it

I doubt the manufacturer of turbo blankets will even know what an S206 is. No disrespect to the S206. If you guys want this group buy to get off the ground you will have to decide whether you want a Subaru specific turbo blanket or small, medium, large or extra large.
A list of those interested with Subaru specific. Small, Medium, Large, XL along with the turbo you are running and we go from there.

DaOne: Ian = Medium
Harvey = Medium

RuskyV, Just read down the thread and all is explained. Purpose of it for me is to stop overtemp in the engine compartment. The blanket works like loft insulation, but in this case ensures that the hot air goes down the exhaust and not into your engine. There are other advantages as well, such as improved spool of the Turbo as Harvey has explained in the thread.

Hope this helps

Another couple of names and I will start a thread in Group Buys but at that time I would like to have an indication as to probable supplier and pricing.
I ordered a one off from New Zealand, just to see the quality and test out the performance of the supplier and I asked about a bulk order for 10no. or more. No response so not very encouraging as they are ahead of us time wise.
I also have an enquiry on going in the U.S. who are behind in time. I will review feedback tonight.
