Hi Chaps
Some Fabulous developments...
MIRA are being incredibly supportive offering the complete support of their vehicle dynamics department, and testing equipment, etc.
They agree with the general concensus of opinon that the big challenge *may* come from the diffs.
So..
I am delighted to say that Michael Quaife has today agreed to offer full support of Quaife on the diffs.
They will be offering full technical and engineering support and if necessary replace the diffs completely to include diffs designed to cope with the job and more.
This is a pivotal bonus to us as the diff issue was potentially the biggest sticking point. This also means that the supplier of the car does not need to worry about and wear and tear on the diffs.
The only other concern I have is the turbo. This may not be an issue at all as we can if necessary turn the boost right, but just in-case...
we are talking to a couple of companies about underwriting the cost of technical repairs, should they be necessary. This will again be a huge benefit as it means we can all focus on getting the job done rather than worrying about damage to cars, etc.
It's all happening! Thank you to everyone on here who has been so supportive with advice / technical issues, and to the companies who have been so supportive so far...
MIRA
Autocar
Quaife
TOYO
Tyres Northampton
Also, a huge thank you to Mike Wood (prodrive) who has been incredibly supportive, even though it will be of no direct benefit to prodrive or himself.
All the best

Great going Simon.
Since autocar are involved does that mean they'll be running an article on it?
How are you proposing to raise money for charity from it(so many pence per min sideways etc etc).
Collecting sponsorship money is always a pain so it may be an idea to add a 'sideways challenge' item to the scoobynet shop so that people can donate by purchasing the item(say 5 quid per 'item'). Ordering multiple 'items' ups the donation.
That way it's easy for us to donate, easy for you to setup and more importantly saves you the hassle of chasing people up for promises.
Actually, this may well be a good idea when other fund raising is going on. E.g Dr Evil's quays meet raffle and Ride a along with Harj donations.
Should'nt be too hard to set up.

Hi Paul
Thanks for your support mate. Everyone is being incredibly supportive in terms of supplying everything for the challenge free of charge.
The only thing we *may* need is a couple of companies to underwrite an amount of money towards costs of repair / servicing to the car if something dies!
We are already talking to one company about this but have not finalised yet, it would be great to talk to you about this.
Alternatively, we could talk about a donation which would automatically go towards any non-underwritten costs, but would be added to the charity fund if it wasn't necessary.
Drop me a mail if you are interested and we can discuss it further.
Cheers m8

Shaun - BEHAVE!
One Thought, SDB could use a ford Cossie 'cause most of 'em are so bent underneath that they 'crab' sideways down the road anyhow.
Shaun - have you got the details for that limpet mount??
Simon - Perhaps we can chat about filming the event Friday?
